Julie and Chris have been such a joy to work with over the past year or so. They have such a great attitude towards life, their wedding, and just rolling with the punches.
We can thank the internet for this wonderful wedding and wonderful couple. Yup they met on-line. They now live in Prairie Village with their pup Murphy who I got to know during their engagement session a few months ago. As with many of my couples the ties to past and present clients goes back pretty far and hits pretty close to home many times. As they say Kansas City is indeed the biggest small town in America. I found this out when I was at their house shooting Julie getting ready. I decided to go outside and see if I could make a nice image of Julie getting her makeup done through the window. There I was on my tippy toes doing my best no to fall when I hear some guy heckling me from next door. I turn expecting it to be some annoying neighbor and was surprised to see a very friendly smile. One of my old grooms lives next door literally. I shot Callie and Neil’s wedding years ago so it was wonderful to know they would be around that day. Turns out only Neil could attend the wedding and thank god he did as my assistant Kate had to run back to the studio and get another piece of equipment so I enlisted him to help out with lighting the cake cutting! He did not hesitate. There was that sort of camaraderie all day with Julie and Chirs’ entourage of friends. It was a joy to witness.

Said tippy toe image. Julie gets her makeup done.
Even Murph dressed up for the occasion.
Murph waits for a crumb.
Love this photo of Julie and her niece.
Wonderful moment with Julie getting help with the dress.
This was a true test of Julie’s nerves. I would say 10 minutes before leaving for the church the zipper on the dress broke. No need to worry Julie made a call and shortly later the dress lady came running to the rescue.
The fix.
The approval.
Julie’s mom was a riot all day. It was great to watch their relationship. Here she is helping Julie with the veil.
I loved this moment when flower girl met bride in the hallway both carrying their dresses the exact same way.
Julie’s dad is no longer with them so her mom walked her down the aisle with apparently the same amount of nerves as her daughter.
Love Chris’ expression when seeing Julie for the first time at the end of the aisle.
The first dance.
A no hander!
This was great. Chris works in the auctioneer industry and is also a very avid volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas City. So it was only fitting to auction off the garter at the wedding with all proceeds going the foundation. It was the best use of a garter I have seen yet. It was wonderful to watch. Here is a link to a Youtube video of it. His “little brother” was in the wedding party and helped promote the beauty of the Nebraska Huskers garter.
The crowd gets into the bidding.
Champagne, strawberries and a kiss to seal the night.
Thanks for letting us document you day guys!
Tyler, the dog waiting for the crumb…shows how good you are.
Great photos….loved the vantage points! My favorite: Julie and Bridget taking a deep breath before walking down the aisle!
Love, Love, Love every single one and the ones of Murphy just make my heart melt…but I’m a little bit biased 🙂
perfectly said Becca!!!
love the moment with mom in the background with the little girl. Big payoff with the risk you took!
