I have never done a wedding on Halloween. Well technically I still have not but Laura and Roberts was close enough. They got married the day before Halloween and as a napkin in Laura’s hotel room said, It was a wicked good time.
Everything about this couple and wedding was fun and easy. Laura and her mom Miriam, who works at Hallmark, know how to think outside of the box and creatively. That is what I loved about them from the get go. When we first met at the studio it was love at first sight, as they say. We all just knew this was going to be a perfect fit for what they were looking for in their photography.
It got better when I learned they were working with our good friends over at Blue Bouquet. Things just feel into place from there for the makings of a great Halloween bash. It was such a joy to watch how these two interacted with each other and their families. They truly acted like themselves all day with no apologies. Just like I like it.
The details.
Ceremony- St.Paul’s Episcopal
Reception- Californo’s in Westport
Floral design- Blue Bouquet
Photobooth- boothBOOTH
Laura and her girls got ready at Skyline Saloon downtown and all the saloon staff were dressed in costume making for some great getting ready images.
Great moment here. Laura’s friend was getting ready to open the champagne for a toast and it popped immediately after she removed the wire. Needless to say everyone took cover and I hit the button.
Love this shot of Laura’s mom helping her get dressed.
This was one of the coolest things I have seen a bride do. Laura had a photo attached to her bouquet of her grandmother on her wedding day as she is coming out of the church in Stamford, CT. Nice touch. I only hope one day my photographs of a wedding will be used in such a meaningful manner.
Laura and her father right after he saw her for the first time in her dress as they wait to leave for the ceremony.
Waiting for the call to walk down the aisle.
This was one of my favorite images of the day. I was waiting for the doors to open and Robert to make his way down the aisle and I noticed some movement behind the doors. I got closer to see Robert waiting through the crack in the doors and made an image of him moments before they opened.
The vows.
This was great. One of the flower girls was overcome with emotion right after the ceremony and her younger sister found it quite funny.
Some reception details.
Great moment during the first dance. I love it as Laura is having her moment and Robert his moment with a guest.
Father/ daughter dance.
Father/daughter plus friend dance.
I love this moment right after the cake cutting. I have no idea what is happening but I found it so funny.
Laura with her grandfather.
Three men, three women and a baby have fun in the boothBOOTH.
We wrapped up the night at Kelly’s in Westport with a drink with Mr.Peanut, Edward Scissor hands, Where’s Waldo and host of other characters.
Thanks for a wicked good night you guys!
Loved the blog and your synposis. You’re not only a good photographer but a writer also! We will always look back on the wedding and smile…. thanks to how you captured the day… thanks so much!!!
It’s funny how I still look forward to looking at blog posts, even when I have already seen these pictures a million times before posting them….This was a great wedding, Tyler.
p.s. I love the Mr. Peanut picture. It looks like he’s creeping up on them.
Fantastic work. I love the champagne shot – and the peanut on the dance floor 🙂
