Pat and Gordon were not a couple that I got to spend a lot of time with leading up to the wedding day. When Ellyn Bold called to save their date she was so excited to be a part of their special day. I remember her telling me that they lived in Denver but they wanted to renew their vows and be blessed in the church that Gordon grew up attending, witnessed by their family and friends here in Kansas City. Normally I have a few meetings and an engagement session to really get to know a couple. With them all we had was a few hours one afternoon to talk a bit and take some engagement images in the studio. From this encounter on I had the pleasure of witnessing two people from two completely different cultures and backgrounds come together to form the most perfect union.
You see technically Pat and Gordon were already married when I met them. They had a civil ceremony a few months back. Some might think that the actual wedding day would then not be that emotional or exciting.
They proved everyone wrong.
On this day in front of their family and friends they made a spiritual commitment to each other, and everyone felt honored to share in this moment. Every smile that Pat flashed you really felt her happiness and even though they were already married you could see the pride in Gordon’s face all day as he married his bride all over again.
Their friends and family made the day even more special for this couple. Pat’s brother, Pinyo was her rock through the entire process. He is an amazing designer in his own right and was at her side helping her plan every part of this day as well as walking her down the aisle. The couple were thrilled to have all their friends come together (Gordon’s college friends from all over the country, Pat’s friends from San Francisco and Denver), as one large extended family even though some of them had just met. Finally, Pat was so thrilled and honored when she found out her Uncle would be attending their wedding especially since not many of her family could be there.
Please enjoy the day from my eyes. It truly was a blessing to witness such a wonderful event and I thank you both for allowing me to document it.

Tyler!! These are dang good. I 1. love the shot of the couple’s reflection in the window of the car, with their friends peeking out to photograph them. 2. Think the limo shots are killer. 3. Love the emotion conveyed. And 4. I want her dress-it’s gorgeous.
