Well we did it! Our Kansas Jayhawks are the 2008 National Champs!
What an amazing game last night. So much fun to watch.
In case you did not know I am a big time KU Basketball fan. It is really the only thing in sports I actually care about. So this is a crazy fun time!
So today was the Jayhawks welcome home celebration in Lawrence and Pam and I decided to play hookie and load up the kids and head up there. There were like 20,000 people there today with everyone in great spirits! We really had a blast, and got to eat at Pam’s favorite place in Lawrence- Quinton’s.
Pam and I met at KU as photographers and then later photo editors together on the paper. So we have tradition and history there and thus wanted to begin traditions of our own by taking Alex and Zach for their first Jayhawk basketball experience. Not to mention paying witness to a bit of history.
The icing on the cake came when Alex and I were interviewed afterwards by Channel 9 news! So maybe you saw me on the 10:00 news! Pretty fun.
One bit of advice- if you are going to play hookie from work for the day- don’t let the news interview you!!!!!!
Some images of the day.
Mario Chalmers being greeted by the crowd for his AMAZING last second shot to tie the game sending it to overtime!
Thanks for the memories Jayhawks!!!
Tyler
I saw you and Alex on the news, Ty! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee! 🙂
ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!! (And I didn’t even go to KU!)
Tyler, those are some great photos to help remember a remarkable event in Jayhawk history. I don’t know if Becca has told you, but we are dyed in the wool Jayhawks.
Great images, The fans that live too far to make it back to lawrence appreciate the ability feel we were there. Thank ya much and GO KU!!!!
That’s the one event we missed in all the festivities! I’m glad you captured it!
Beak ‘Em! Wish I could have been there! A bunch of my students left early to go welcome the team home. Don’t they know what a big fan I am? Why didn’t their parents take me with them. 😉
You were truly having fun, were’t you Tyler 🙂
